Also known as Ayurvedic Acupuncture. Marmapuncture uses the ancient wisdom of Ayurvedic principles combined with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) - Acupuncture. It involves the stimulation of Marma points which are energy centres, to promote balance and harmony within the body to eradicate the body of illness and disease. Either pressure or tiny needles are used to stimulate the energy centre which will elicit healing within the body.

Ayurveda is an ancient Indian system of medicine that emphasises the importance of achieving balance and harmony within the body, mind, and spirit. It is based on the belief that each individual has a unique constitution, or "dosha," which is determined by the predominance of three fundamental elements: vata, pitta, and kapha. An Ayurvedic practitioner uses a holistic approach to healthcare, incorporating dietary recommendations, herbal remedies, yoga, and meditation to address the root causes of imbalance and promote overall well-being. The goal of Ayurveda is to help individuals maintain optimal health and prevent the onset of disease through the adoption of a lifestyle that is in harmony with the rhythms of nature.
-
Marmapuncture and TCM Acupuncture both use tiny needles or pressure to stimulate energy centres within the body. However, Marmapuncture is based off of Ayurvedic principles with the focus on regulating the Prana (vital energy or life force) as well as dosha analysis and chakras within the body. The marma points however do correlate with TCM acupuncture through the organ meridians (channels that energy flows) which can lie on or near the same locations.

Marmapuncunture is generally not painful and many people find it to be a relaxing experience. You can experience a range of sensations upon insertion of the needle, ranging from a tingle, throb, pressure, itch or dull ache. The sensations that you may feel are all positive signs that the needle is working its magic ! However, i will immediately take any needle out if it is too intense or painful for you.

With the use of tiny sterile single use needles the risk of big side effects are very minimal. However, everyone is unique to how they respond to the treatment so responses to the treatment will vary.
It is possible after your treatment to have a few side effects, that may happen immediately after or hours, or days later.
Pain on insertion of the needle, due to the very tiny needle tip causing tiny amounts of trauma. There can also be the occasional occurrence of pain after the treatment where the needles have been, this should subside within 24-48 hours after the treatment
Bruising and haematoma or minor bleeding at the site of the needle insertion, this is not serious and should not be a concern, it is just your body’s reaction to the needle. The only concern will be with patients who are taking Aspirin or anti-coagulants, like warfarin
Sleepiness and/ or euphoria, this is very common as endorphins are released to help your body relax, reduce stress and lower pain.
Dizziness, fainting can occur in certain patients, particularly after the first treatment or if you have low blood pressure
Worsening or increase in symptoms, this will only be temporary and is usually a good sign
If you notice any changes or side effects let your practitioner know and they will be able to advise you on the best way to deal with it.

The amount of sessions will vary for each individual however generally after 3-4 sessions you will begin to notice improvements. For women's health it is generally 3 cycles before changes start to be noticed. However, it is also very common to notice improvements straight away and is purely dependent on how your body responds to treatments and how long you have been struggling with the certain ailment for.
